The WordPress (WP) Directory is the place to find WP plugins. The directory makes it easy for users to find plugins for their websites. It’s where I find all the plugins I use. Given this, I thought I’d upload my Blipper Widget to it so others can use it if they like. I had a look at how to do this. It seems there are a lot of hoops to jump through. Understandable, really: they won’t want to put their users at risk.
I did a lot of reading of various articles and posts on the web, including, but not limited to:
- WP Plugin Directory | About. This has a lot of links to guidelines and FAQs and all sorts of things about it. These guidelines and FAQs seem daunting and scary; the readme.txt validator seems useful;
- How to properly format and enhance your plugin’s readme.txt file for the WordPress.org Repository;
- How to submit a WordPress plugin;
- How to submit your first WordPress plugin.
So, after I’ve followed all this advice, my plugin must surely be acceptable to WP. Right?
