Parkrun: volunteering 16

Did the finish tokens again today. Gosh, it was cold!

The wind was in your face no matter which way you turned, the rain pattered on my hood, then turned into diagonal lines through the fake-fur trim.

I can’t wear gloves if I’m doing finish tokens because it’s a fiddly job, but my fingers had frozen before I’d even untied the shoelace running through the holes in their corners.

Usually, the tailwalkers, who are supposed to finish in last place, cross the line in under an hour, but today a lady took 1:07 minutes to complete it. She was eighty-one years old! What an achievement.

After standing in the cold for an hour and a half, it was a relief to get home out of the wind and rain. But I haven’t been able to get warm again all day!
