As you may know, I am running the 10k Race for Life in July. When I signed up, I couldn’t run 10k. I knew this because I’d tried and failed in November. However, since then, I’ve been doing a spot of training. A bit of running; a bit of cross-training. I extended my distance to 5 miles. This distance doesn’t seem as bad as I thought it would be. It’s just a 5k with an extra bit tacked on near the beginning and another bit tacked on the end.
Today, I attempted the full 10k. And I did it! My time was 1.06.32, which I’m pleased with. I’d love to be able to do it in less than an hour, but for now, the mere fact that I can do it is enough.
Towards the end, I almost felt like I was flying, which isn’t something I’ve felt before. Is this the runners’ high I hear so much about?
