Mother’s Day Karma

All those years of blaming the postman for my Mother’s Day cards late arrival have come back to haunt me. This year, it was posted on Thursday, so she should have got it on Friday, two whole days before Mother’s Day, and I would not receive a brusque phone call enquiring of its whereabouts on Sunday.

As it turned out, I didn’t get such a phone call on Sunday, but I did get two brusque messages on Monday. She didn’t state what she wanted, so I was most puzzled. I rang her back, and she did her where’s-my-card thing. Damn postman! I told her it was posted on Thursday, and I described the card to her (she was suitably amused), and she was pleased I’d sent one, but upset that it hadn’t arrived. I hope she has words with Mr Postman.

No title

I snoozed the alarm for the second or third time and snuggled back down into the pit I share with Dusty. She likes to lie on my side, forcing me across to the other side. Why can’t she lie there? There’s plenty space for her and she can still snuggle up to me if she wants. I wouldn’t care, but she did exactly the same thing with the settee. It is a two-seater. One seat for me and the same seat for her. She whinges when I pick her up so I can sit on my seat, so I put a prawn treat on the other cushion and she gets up to eat it and I sit down then she sits on my knee.

I digress. This morning, after I had snuggled back down, the doorbell cheekily rang, forcing me to get up earlier than normal. It turned out to be the postman with a recorded delivery! For me! It was a birthday pressie off my sister. It turned out to be so good, I was still late for work. Typical.

Oh, and chocolate cake for after tea!

Oh, and my friend’s coming to visit on Thursday for a few days!
