The world that revolves around Caity Ross
Grown up at last?
Today, The Hubster and I were out in the garden, enjoying the sun and doing a spot of “gardening”, when these little kids started playing footie just outside. The ball came past my car on the drive, so I went and had stern words with them: “Can you be more careful around my car, please?” I said to the one who came to get it back. He muttered something or other, and everyone went back to what they’d been doing before. Later, their ball came hurtling into the garden, scaring the poor cat, who ran into the house, and bounced impressively in the back doorway. I picked the ball up and sat down again with it, in my garden chair, and waited for one of them to come for it. The Hubster went inside because he was half naked and didn’t want to scare the poor boys off unnecessarily. Eventually - no doubt after they’d drawn lots, one of them came into the garden, rather sheepishly, I have to say. I gave him his ball back, and said, “Can you play somewhere else now?” to him, ever so sternly. He said, in a small voice, “Sorry,” and went back out. One of his little chums said to him, “So you got it back, then,” and he said, “Yeah, but we have to play somewhere else.” Bless them.
I decided, as I was cleaning the shears later, that they were good boys, really. They respected and obeyed the word of an adult (hence the me possibly having grown up part), and, as The Hubster pointed out, they were all active and not obese and playing Playstation or some such. Good for them. They’re a credit to their parents!
