Review of selected pubs in Sunderland
I’m looking for pubs in Sunderland (wedding-related reasons), and came across this review. It looks like they fair got about a bit, and whereas I’m glad they enjoyed their experience, it has to be said that they clearly didn’t understand the Ivy House experience. The Ivy, as it is more commonly known, is (or at least was in my day) the haunt of sixth-formers at St Anthony’s R.C. Girls’ School, just up the road, and St Aiden’s, the equivalent school for boys.
If the pair of reviewers had visited on a Friday night, they would have seen the place packed with such people. The place was not just full of schoolies, however; there were the local (dirty) old men and probably students from the University and other such types. But mainly schoolies.
