Blogs: My Books

I’ll try to review the books I’ve read, so it’s more than just a list of books

Rereading Bosch by Pandammonium on Wednesday 9th January, 2008 @ 2.17pm GMT Europe/London

I decided after reading The Last Coyote by Michael Connelly that I really should start at the beginning of the series and read through all the Bosch books in order, so that I can appreciate them more, and also appreciate The Narrows more when I come to it. I never read the books in order before, so this should be interesting.

So far, I’ve read, in order of reading:

  1. The Black Echo, which gives us Bosch’s background via a related case: Bosch was a soldier during the Vietnam war; a tunnel rat. He still dreams about it, twenty years later. We are shown that Bosch is your renegade-type cop, who bucks the rules. References to his mother’s death are given, and an old case is hinted at; one where Bosch may have messed up.
  2. The Black Ice, which is exciting, and gets Bosch into serious danger. Gripping stuff. The loner theme is reinforced, along with the Vietnam background. More tantalising the reader about Bosch’s mother and the old case.
