Blogs
My main blog is Pandammonia, and it is really just my ramblings. I like to think it's evolved since I started in December 2003 from an I-did-this diary to one containing things like my take on events, my ideas, my thoughts and opinions, and, of course, what I did. It's not updated as frequently as it used to be, but it's certainly not a dead blog.
My second blog is My Books. It started off as a way of keeping a record of what books I have read, but now I also have an online catalogue of my books (see my Reading page). I don't update this one very often - mainly because I never seem to get round to it, but I am trying to update it more frequently, along with writing reviews for each book.
Other blogs
I read various blogs - usually as a way to procrastinate. The ones I check most frequently are listed below for my convenience.

Haskell resource: Typeclassopedia
Brent Yorgey has published a first draft of what looks to be a fantastic resource for the Haskell programmer who wants to understand what all those strange type classes like Applicative, Monoid and Functor actually mean. I am in the process of reading though it and the quote Hmm, it doesn’t compile … maybe I’ll stick in an fmap…

“Power Play!!! POWER Play!!!”
“He’s taking his Power Play!” yelps the commentator excitedly. “Ooooooh!” go the audience. There is some loud rock music. “I really think that we should introduce the Power Play,” I tell the bowls people later on. “Like on the bowls on Sky TV.” We discuss the mechanics of supplying loud rock music and erecting spotlights so they zigzag crazily…

This Sunday@6 service at Fordham will be a youth service. Yours Truly is doing the talk, on “What good is it to gain the whole world but lose your soul?” I’m a bit nervous to be honest, it’s the first time I’ve done a talk at Fordham so the pressure is on! I’ve spoken to Andy…

With my visa finally getting processed, me being able to be employed by the company I helped found and my return to the US, I am delighted to be able to announce that we've launched the Eldarion website and with it, the company. http://eldarion.com/ Just a single page at the moment, but I think it's a g…

Reasons for not posting for a while
I’ve not been posting on my main site for a while. I guess the main reason is the house renovation. Follow this on my house blog. Secondly I’ve also been blogging for work. Nothing earth shattering, but it was about time. In the meantime here’s a newt I found in the new garden: I never noticed, but…

So public sector pensions have been overpaid, all very embarassing. But what caught my eye reading the link was the comment from David Cameron - “You have to ask why this was allowed to go on for such a long time. “This government has been in power for a lot of years. They have to get…

It's Saturday night, and am I out having fun? Am I painting the town red? No. Not even beige. I'm studying. Or I was. Alternatively, I might just be looking at web pages related to Planetary Science. Lego Orrery - how neat is that? If there is anyone else reading this who is not out partying, ask me planetary science quest…

On studying history/History
A correspondent writes to report a school argument about whether a subject area should be capitalized or not. Is it: 'There'll be exams in History and Geography' or '... history and geography'? Opinion was split. I'm not surprised. Capitalization is one of those areas very much subject to fashion and change. As Fowler once said, long ago, 'the use of capitals is largely governed by pers…
