More on my defection

The reasons I defected include the following:

  • Blogger is not W3C standard compliant. This bugs me no end.
  • If a change is made to the template, the whole blog has to be republished, which can take ages. This is irritating, especially if you cannot wait all day.
  • Publishing the blog is not always reliable.
  • Blogger is slow to add new functionality, for example, comments were not supported for a long time after they had been introduced elsewhere, there is no capability for tagging/categorising posts and it has only recently introduced trackbacks.
  • A Blogger blog creates a ridiculous number of files and therefore wastes a lot of disk space.
  • Customer support isn’t very supportive in my experience.

These reasons are also stated in my last post on my Blogger blog. I’m contemplating deleting that fecker – it’ll free up loads of space on my host servers, I imagine.
